UPND mourns party official

- By ANDREW MUKOMA

THE opposition UPND has described the late Copperbelt Provincial Vice-Youth Chairman, Gerald Ngoma, as a team player who contributed greatly to the growth of the opposition party.

Mr Ngoma, who died on Saturday, was admitted to the Ndola Teaching Hospital following a road traffic accident two weeks ago that claimed the life of Ronald Manenga, who was the Provincial Youth Chairman.

Southern Province Chairman Billiard Makwembo said Mr Ngoma was a prolific leader who worked tirelessly to ensure the growth of the party on the Copperbelt.

Mr Makwembo said in a statement released to the Daily Nation in Livingstone that the party was devastated by the untimely death of the Provincial Vice Youth Chairman.

"We are devastated as UPND in Southern Province by the untimely death of Provincial vice Youth chairman for Copperbelt Gerald Ngoma. It is extremely heartbreaking to lose two vibrant youths on the Copperbelt in a space of two weeks.

"Gerald Ngoma just like Ronald Manenga was a prolific leader who worked tirelessly for the growth and acceptance of our party on the Copperbelt Province," Mr Makwembo said.

He noted that the late Mr Ngoma was a team player who will be greatly missed for his commitment towards the party's work in the province and beyond.

We put everything in our Almighty God's hands as we continue the struggle our departed dear friend Gerald Ngoma left unfinished. We still value the initiative of the social contract from our colleagues on the Copperbelt and gift left for us to carry on,” he said.

“Gerald Ngoma just like Ronald Manenga was a prolific leader who worked tirelessly for the growth and acceptance of our party on the Copperbelt Province,”
