The Uganda elections and ours

- HEZRON DAKA

Dear editor,

I WRITE to comment on the just ended Ugandan elections, and the usual baby tears of the opposition parties.

it appears there is a common school where African opposition leaders, go and learn ideas on how to wrestle power from the ruling parties in Africa

They almost use the same method ,of social media manipulation and silly propaganda, to arouse disorder and political insurgency.

It started with the late Morgan Changalai of Zimbabwe, and followed by Chamitsa, their mode of operations are the same ,they denounce judiciary, as corrupt, they claim victory before official result, they attack elections bodies and attack the personalities of chairpersons of elections bodies, they intimidate violence ounce results do not favour them, and the same song of rigging.

As mentioned above, these are the same issues we have here in Zambia by our opposition parties.

In Uganda the security machinery and intelligence were by far ahead of the opposition plans particularly, the party of Bobbie Wine, his plains were uncovered way back before he could hatch them, hence peace prevailed during voting, counting and announcing of elections.

Elections are won plainly without using disorderly means of overrunning and denouncing institutions of governance, when the final voice of the people is pronounced in the ballot box , no weapon can challenge that.

Here in Zambia we still have a political party that wants to do the same by claiming victory before official result and they want to run a parallel election results announcement, and probably declare themselves winners in contravention with the Election Commission of Zambia ACT.

That will not be allowed ,we want peace not chaos, we want smooth transfer of power , where a candidate wins with convincing margins as the LATE Mr. Sata did over Mr Rupia Banda, take note both of you the ruling PF and Opposition that these elections are not like you are taking over from the foreigners, as the case it was during independence days form the British colonialists, in the same way the ruling party must not use tactics to disadvantage clear victory of any opposition candidate, .

Zambia will develop in that way ,each party has plans to prosper this country, but with peace and respect to Zambians.
