North-West youth-clubs slated for empowerment

-

MINISTER of Youth, Sports and Child Development, Emmanuel Mulenga says the government will soon empower about 158 youth clubs in North-Western Province with K9, 848,559 under the multi-sectoral approach to youth empowerment.

Mr Mulenga said the 158 youth clubs in Solwezi, Kalumbila and Mwinilunga translates into 3,160 individuals.

He said this when he called on his provincial minister, Mr Nathaniel Mubukwanu in Solwezi yesterday.

"Following the launch of the multi-sectoral approach to youth empowerment late last year, we are going to give 158 youth clubs translating into 3,160 individuals in Solwezi, Kalumbila and Mwinilunga districts", Mr Mulenga said.

He said his ministry will also empower youths in Mumena and Kanong'esha chiefdoms with carpentry tools and sewing machines to equip them with skills.

Meanwhile, Mr Mubukwanu said the government has made strides aimed at improving the welfare of young people in the country, as can be testified through such empowerments.

"Government does not want to leave anyone behind in terms of development hence, the continued effort to empower citizens," he said.

Mr Mubukwanu said empowering young people in the province with funds and equipment for skills is the government's great initiative to motivate young people, to actively take part in national development.

He has since appealed to all youths who will be empowered to make full use of the resources and use them prudently.

"Let us plant a seed and look after it, then at an appropriate time we can harvest it and improve our lives", Mr Mubukwanu said.

He said young people must take this opportunity to improve their lives and further appealed to parents and guardians to take keen interest in economic ventures that are being undertaken by their children.

Mr Mulenga is in North-western province on a youth empowerment fund disbursement programme and is scheduled to visit Solwezi, Kalumbila and Mwinilunga districts.- ZANIS

The Global System also has convinced all countries to play by its rules through the Bretton Woods institutions. Sooner than later most of our people, including their colleagues elsewhere, will neither appreciate the dynamics of the Marshall Plan or indeed the reasons behind establishing the Betton Woods institutions, after the Second World War. What of with America, which in the name of rights, exhibited ignorance at a very high level. Tragic! was ever made.
