- By JACKSON MAPAPAYI

OPERATIONS at Chavuma district administration, civic center as well as other Government offices were last week suspended after authorities decided to have the offices disinfected.

This followed the recording of 47 cases of covid-19 among some members of staff.

Chavuma District Commissioner (DC), Fredrick Fwoloshi , said the exercises meant to ensure safety of public workers and other people.

“We recorded

47 positive cases of Covid19 among some members of staff from the district administration block, the civic center and other offices. And because of that, we decided to have all offices fumigated which led to the closure of offices,” Mr

Fwoloshi said.

He indicated that officers who were find to be positive have been quarantined though none of them is in a critical condition.

Mr Fwoloshi said that operations in all the offices would resume today and advised members of the public to observe health guidelines to avoid the spread of the pandemic.

Chavuma Town Council Secretary, Kennedy Bwalya, advised residents to take the pandemic seriously and always follow the guidelines from the ministry of Health.

Mr Bwalya said that the local authority was working round the clock in ensuring that residents were sensitised on the dangers of the pandemic.
