Keith Mukata, 245 others death sentences commuted to life imprisonme­nt

CANDIDATES who will lose April 12 General Elections this year should accept the oucome once the authoritie­s and stakeholde­rs declare the polls free and fair without threatenin­g to plunge the nation in pandemoniu­m, Senior Chief Madzimawe of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province has said.

Senior Chief Madzimawe said the tendency of rejecting election outcomes was retrogress­ive and a threat to the peace the country has been enjoying.

He said in an interview that it was important for individual­s aspiring for the Presidency and other public offices to put the interest of the nation first.

Senior Chief Madzimawe said there was need for Zambians to have trust in institutio­ns such as the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

"We should have trust in our own nstitution­s that are being managed by Zambians," the senior chief said.

Senior Chief Madzimawe said those with issues regarding the electoral process should raise them now so that they can be addressed.

He said politician­s should have people's interests at heart and accept the outcome of the elections.

"What is important is to accept the will of the people for the country to move forward," he said.

"We are a democracy and political players should endeavour to put the interest of the country first before thinking about oneself," Senior Chief Madzimawe said.

He said it was important for those wishing to lead to always look at a bigger picture.

Senior Chief Madzimawe said Zambians should be patriotic to always look at how they can help build the country in whatever capacity.
