PF youths cane UPND over campaign claims
I think the UPND does not mean well to the nation because they are not the only party which is in the opposition for them to start criticizing President Edgar Lungu when he inspects the development he promised the people of Zambia during campaigns in 2016.
THE PF youths in Southern Province have dismissed opposition UPND's accusation that the ruling party through President Edgar Lungu has launched an early campaign disguised as working visits to various parts of the country.
PF Provincial Information and Public Secretary, Paul Silungwe, described the UPND's claim as baseless and false.
On Tuesday, UPND's Provincial Information and Publicity Secretary Neto Halwabala issued a statement indicating that the Head of State's working visits were campaign tactics and not inspecting Government projects.
Mr Halwabala said that President Lungu and Cabinet Ministers' working visits to Government projects were disadvantaging the opposition.
But Mr Silungwe said that the UPND should not cry foul because President Edgar Lungu was merely checking on development projects which the PF promised the citizens during the 2016 campaigns.
He told the Daily Nation in an interview that the UPND should not complain as though it was the only opposition political party in the country.
Mr Silungwe said that the working visits should not be perceived as an early campaign as being insinuated by the opposition political party.
"I think the UPND does not mean well to the nation because they are not the only party which is in the opposition for them to start criticizing President Edgar
Lungu when he inspects the development he promised the people of Zambia during campaigns in 2016.
“So when the President is moving or going for a working visit, let the opposition cry foul about it. Let the UPND start watching ZNBC TV so that they can see what President Lungu is doing and the projects he inspects," Mr Silungwe said.
He said that the nation has ongoing projects running all over the country and so, it was the responsibility of the President and his Ministers to conduct inspections.
"Actually, the UPND should even thank our humble President because he wants to bring every Zambian on board.
“Let them understand how government is working and also concentrate on telling the people what they are going to do and not what is happening. Every time it's about Lungu and Ministers," he said.
