Works on market, bus terminus advance

- By ANDREW MUKOMA

ZAMBIA National Service (ZNS) Commandant Nathan Mulenga has expressed optimistic that with the pace and quality works going on at the Modern Market and Intercity Bus Terminus in Livingstone, his team will be completing the two projects in the next 30 days.

Lieutenant-General Mulenga however said the delay to complete the two facilities was as a result of administrative challenges.

Lt-Gen Mulenga said the works at the two projects had progressed well compared to the last visit he and his team made last year when they inspected the works.

He said that the works had moved steadfastly compared to the way it was the last time he visited the sites.

“The last time we toured, the place was looking very depressing but today, you have seen for yourselves and the impression about the works is very good.

“I am positive that if they (working team at the site) can continue to work at this pace, with the quality of course that is attached to it, then the works will be complete within 30 days,” he said.

Earlier, during a courtesy call on Livingstone District Commissioner Pascalina Musokotwane, Lt-Gen Mulenga regretted the delay in completing the construction of the market and the bus terminus.

Lt-Gen Mulenga said that it was never the wish of his men to have delayed the completion, but that the team would work with time to complete the remaining works.

“You know there are a number of parties to these projects, we’ve got the consultant, we have got NAPSA as main client and of course Local Government. So far you have seen that the pace has actually improved unlike in the past.
