HH, KAMBWILI CAUTIONED
…Sort out criminal court cases and criminal allegations before alliance is sealed
CHISHIMBA Kambwili and his Opposition Alliance partner, Hakainde Hichilema should concentrate their energies sorting out cases before the courts and investigative wings respectively than mooting a pact going nowhere, says PF Eastern Province chairperson Andrew Lubusha.
Mr Lubusha also said the opposition alliance risk not having a Presidential candidate in the August 12 general election in an event that Mr Kambwili and Mr Hichilema are convicted by the courts of law.
He said while Mr Kambwili was already appearing before the courts of law facing several criminal charges and counts, his political partner, Mr Hichilema has also been reported to the ACC and the police and it’s possible that he too might be prosecuted.
Mr Lubusha said in an event that the two are convicted and sent to jail, the duo will not appear on this year's presidential ballot.
“Once the two are convicted, they cannot continue to participate in the political activities which will result in the alliance crumbling as they will not have anyone to front as Presidential and running mate candidates,” he said.
And Mr Lubusha said the ruling Patriotic Front is strong and ready to face and defeat any opposition alliance in the August elections.
He said the alliance between Mr Hichilema and Mr Kambwili was just a “marriage of convenience” for two frustrated politicians who share nothing in terms of political ideology.
“They are all power hungry. The PF will go into 2021 general elections as a united force that enjoys the genuine support of citizens, the people that have seen the determination to transform
the country through tangible and feasible developments that have been delivered to the people across Zambia,” said Mr Lubusha.
He advised Mr Hichilema and Mr Kambwili to concentrate on clearing their names so that they have no excuse for losing elections this August.
