HH IS TOO SELFISH - WINA

..wants to swallow all opposition parties .. HH has hijacked alliance – Sikota Wina

- By AARON CHIYANZO

IT is deep-rooted selfishness for Hakainde Hichilema to hijack the Opposition Alliance and transform it into a UPND baby where all Parliamentary and civic candidates will contest under the UPND umbrella, veteran politician Sikota Wina has said.

Mr Wina said it was shocking that Mr Hichilema rejected a proposal by other alliance members to field their own candidates.

He said in an interview that there was no fairness in the manner the Opposition Alliance was transformed.

Mr Sikota said Mr Hichilema exhibited deep-rooted selfishness by converting the alliance into a UPND tool.

He said the UPND should have at least advocated for a neutral name that was representative of all alliance members.

“It was selfish of Mr Hichilema to turn the Opposition Alliance to UPND. He would have at least found a neutral name,” Mr Wina said.

And some stakeholders have warned against trusting Mr Hichilema with the state, saying that he was a danger to national growth.

Zambian DNA spokesperson Spuki Mulemwa said the “selfishness” exhibited by Mr

Hichilema attests to the fact that he cannot be trusted with public resources.

Mr Mulemwa said a person who was ready to snub his friends without regard cannot be trusted.

He said it would be suicidal for Zambians to usher Mr Hichilema into State House after proving to the nation that only his interests mattered to him.

And Citizens Democratic Party president, Robert Mwanza said the UPND was going nowhere as it was doomed to fail.

Mr Mwanza said the alliance was surrounded by individuals with an insatiable appetite for power and all wanted to be at the top.

The transformed UPND Alliance rejected a proposal by NDC president Chishimba Kambwili that each opposition party should field its own candidates and that the alliance should be called UPNDC to signify its independence and status as an equal partner.
