NKANA IN SURVIVAL FIGHT

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

STUTTERING Nkana’s quest to escape the relegation zone on the FAZ Super Division table come under scrutiny today when the Kitwe giants visit Sunset Stadium for a date with inform Zanaco FC.

Having recorded three consecutive defeats, today’s fixture presents the defending champions Nkana the opportunity to redeem themselves from a three-game losing streak.

A loss will see the defending champions slide into the relegation zone, something their hardcore fans are dreading.

However, Nkana face a Zanaco side determined to reclaim top spot on the Super Division table dominated by Zesco United who lead the chart with 37 points, one point ahead of the Bankers who are second.

With one of the worst defences, Nkana face Zanaco who boast of having the most lethal attacking duo of Rodger Kola and Moses Phiri who have scored 20 Super Division goals between them.

Nkana coach Kelvin Kaindu who complained of his players being fatigued having played more than seven games in the CAF Confederations Cup and the Super Division will hope the likes of Duke Abuya, Fred Tshimenga, and young Simon Mulenga will not let him down.

Meanwhile, Sunset Stadium will also play host venue for a lunchtime kick off involving Green Buffaloes and Nkwazi. Nkwazi will target a win having been beaten by Zanaco in their last league fixture while Buffaloes, who are still celebrating their 3-1 win over Green Eagles on Wednesday in Choma will fight for all the three points

“It’s a very exciting game we are playing a team which is below us and they are fighting to come out of the position they are in and we also want to move up so it will be exciting. “They are coming from a win and we are coming from a loss but we will see what happens. We have been working to change the statistic and we are ready for Buffaloes,” Nkwazi’s second assistant coach Keegan Phiri said.

Meanwhile, Eagles visit Garden Park with one ambition which is to bounce back from Wednesday’s defeat to Buffaloes when they face struggling Kitwe United.

And tomorrow, after being humiliated 4-1 by the league leaders Zesco United, Lumwana Radiants will host Lusaka Dynamos as Forest Rangers face Young Green Eagles at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Mwenya Chipepo returns to Kabwe to face his former club Prison Leopards who are hosting Indeni in the first game of the double header at Godfrey Chitalu Stadium where rejuvenated Kabwe Warriors will host Zesco United in the second match.

Napsa Stars fixture against Buildcon FC has been postponed as the Lusaka side are preparing for their CAF Confederations Cup fixtures.
