NATHAN CHANDA COUNSELS ASPIRANTS

…Central Committee for heavyweights

- By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

LUANSHYAMayor Nathan Chanda has advised PF members who want to contest as members of the Central Committee to weigh themselves first.

Mr Chanda said the PF Central Committee was the highest decision-making body of the party which was chaired by Party President Edgar Lungu.

"I want to thank all those who wanted me to contest for the confidence that you have in me but as things stand, I am very much content with my position.

"So rushing to be a member of the Central Committee should not be an issue. One needs to weigh in first and ensure they have served the Patriotic Front in an exceptional and distinguished manner," he said.

Mr Chanda who is also PF Roan constituency aspiring candidate said people should not just be quick to rush for positions before they could establish if they could fit in.

He said the President of the party had the discretion of who he should worked with and only the people who were loyal to both the President and the party must allowed.

The mayor said he was happy that PF believed in democracy and principles of good governance.

He said it was important that people weighed themselves in and stated what they have done for the Party for them to be in the central committee.

He said the party did not want people to just come from nowhere and ask people to vote for them as members of the central committee.

Mr Chanda added that the President in his own wisdom must have the final say of who he wanted and will be comfortable to work with.
