Continue praying for peace, Church urged

THE Church should pray for political leaders to co-exist as the nation heads to the polls on August 12, PF Livingston­e Parliament­ary candidate, Evans Fenete has pleaded.

Mr Fenet urged the church to continue being instrument­al and provide guidance in matters of the country’s wellbeing.

He added that as the country holds the general elections this year, there will be need to pray for peace before, during and after the elections.

The aspiring candidate said that the church has a critical role to play in inculcatin­g values and morals among citizens and that was the only way to upholding the Christian nation declaratio­n.

Mr Fenete was speaking during the farewell service for Reverend Manda of the Coillard Memorial congregati­on of the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) who has been moved from the Western zone to the Eastern zone.

“I am asking you to keep praying for the leaders to co-exist as they go about the daily affairs of the nation because it is through prayer that we can ask God’s guidance in taking this nation to greater heights. I also call upon the church to pray for this year’s elections so that there is peace before, during and after the elections,” he said.

And in his farewell message, Rev Manda encouraged the congregant­s to continue to exhibiting love and unity not just at church but even in their communitie­s.

Rev Manda said that it was not easy to lead the church but with God’s blessing, he has managed to lead the zone for the past years.

He thanked Western zone and Coillard Memorial congregati­on for giving him an opportunit­y to serve God’s people.
