Forging ahead together after adoptions
I SAY this on the aftermath of the adoption process. Whenever we have more than one person interested in one thing, someone is bound to be disappointed. For me, the burden of leadership is to stand and face each one of you my brothers and sisters, those that are celebrating and those that are not, and speak to you the words that are relevant and stand with you in your different emotions.
“He who has a big head can’t dodge a punch” what I have as a leader is a big head and I can’t dodge your reactions to today’s announcements. This was something that was bound to happen and we have to move on with it.
It’s in times of misfortune when heroes are created and character established, the character of man or a woman in the face of disappointment is the real her or him.
Disappointment brings the real you and such times come to test your character. If people can trust you to stay loyal when things have not gone your way, then they can trust you always.
What we have is not a team, it’s a family. In a family we celebrate each other and hold each other by the hand, because for us reaching where we are going together is more important than how we get there.
Our goal is definitely bigger than our ambitions as members of the party. Our collective efforts are meant to secure the presidency. Therefore who gets on which ballot paper should not be our concern as long that person contributes to the presidential vote we shall celebrate them.
To the colleagues that have been adopted, you have a responsibility to prove that the Patriotic Front central committee of the party have not made a bad decision by adopting you. Unfortunately, only eleven players are needed in a football match and have the responsibility to win for all of us.
To the rest of us, the work that you have been doing to mobilise the party is not a wasted effort. The party is observing you and in due time your reward will be apportioned to you.
Do not slow down, keep the fire burning until we reach our goal. Eyes on the ball! As a leader of the party in the province, I need you more now than ever before, and these candidates need you too. President Edgar Lungu needs you all, in short we need each other now more than ever.
I would be misleading you if I congratulated you on your adoption because an adoption is not victory. You have simply been chosen to be at the battle front.
All I can say on behalf of the party membership in the province is good luck and good fortunes. We are here for you give this fight your all.
