- By OLIVER SAMBOKO

GOVERNMENT yesterday launched the Cyber Security and National postal services policies aimed at transforming the two sectors in the country.

Speaking at the launch yesterday, Transport and Communications Minister Mutotwe Kafwaya said the Cyber security policy was aimed enhancing resilience of National ICT systems to cyber incidents to transform the country into a smart Zambia.

Mr Kafwaya said the government placed great significance on the development of policy frameworks which promote consistent governance and control environments in all sectors of our society.

He noted that the Cyber Security Policy will help the country to enhance capacity in managing cyber security risks for business players on the cyber space.

He said the launch of the two policies is very important to not only the government, but also the Zambian people generally.

“The framework will have sufficient capacity to anticipate, identify and manage cyber security risks in a manner that maximises benefits and minimises loses to all players that transact business on any cyber platform,” Mr Kafwaya said.

He also said Government was concerned about the loss of traditional postal business due to the development in the digital space, hence the decision to come up with the national postal service policy which will help modernize the country’s postal sector to meet the aspirations of consumers.
