PF DEMANDS RESIGNATION OF ‘PARTISAN’ NGAMBELA
THEPF in Bweengwa constituency has called for resignation of Tyson Hamaamba from his position as Chief Choongo’s Prime Minister (Ngambela) following his adoption to stand as councillor for Choongo East ward under the UPND ticket.
Bweengwa constituency chairman, Mainza Kabwata, said it was unacceptable for Mr Haamamba to continue holding to his position as this would disadvantage other political players.
He said that it was unfair for a traditional leader to practice partisan politic.
Mr Kabwata urged the Choongo Royal Establishment to choose another Ngambela to replace Mr Hamaamba, who has joined politics.
He observed that allowing Mr Hamaamba to continue holding traditional role would influence headmen and villagers to support his party.
“As PF, we demand for the immediate resignation of Mr Tyson Hamaamba from his position as Chief Choongo’s Ngambela since he has decided to join politics and stand as councillor under the UPND ticket. If he does not do that then we shall face difficulties in campaigning as he has influence among village headmen,” Mr. Kabwata lamented.
But Chief Choongo told the Daily Nation in an interview that, Mr Hamaamba has already been placed on leave pending retirement.
He was in the process of leaving his position as Prime Minister.
“You have done well to call me to clarify this matter because my Ngambela (Mr
Hamaamba) has been hiding information from me of his political ambitions and only told me recently that he has been adopted to stand as a councillor for Choongo East ward under the UPND ticket.
"I have since given him leave pending retirement which will be done officially once I come back from Lusaka,” Chief Choongo said.
