We’re ready to partner State to ensure growth. Says Lunte chief

SENIOR Chief Luembe of the Nsenga people in Eastern Province says traditiona­l leaders are ready to work with the government of the day to transform the livelihood­s of the people.

Speaking during the launch of Lunte district investment expo in Lusaka, Senior Chief Luembe said for developmen­t to be achieved it is important to include the corporate world.

He said sons and daughters of Lunte need to come up with various ventures that will add economic value in the area.

Senior Chief Luembe noted that for developmen­t to be fostered, there is need for traditiona­l leaders to work and support the government in power.

The traditiona­l leader, who is also chairperso­n for the House of Chiefs said the investment expo demonstrat­es the conducive environmen­t that has been put in place by President Edgar Lungu’s government.

He also said that the concept shows that the traditiona­l leadership plays a key role in as far as national economic developmen­t is concerned.

Senior Chief Luembe said the government through President Lungu declared Lunte a district and it was up to the people who hail from there to contribute towards its developmen­t which was lagging behind.

Speaking at the same function, Senior Chief Chitoshi commended President Lungu for making Lunte a district.

And Chief Tafuna said that it is sad scenario that despite being declared a district in 2017, there has been no tangible developmen­t in the area.
