Zanaco partners with EAZ in growth agenda

- By BUUMBA CHIMBULU

ZANACO Bank will continue fostering partnerships which contribute to the growth of the country, as it contributes K200, 000 to the Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) in support of the 2021 summit.

The financial institution has therefore continued partnering with stakeholders to economic growth, says Zanaco Bank Chief Executive Officer, Mukwandi Chibesakunda.

Ms Chibesakunda said Zanaco had therefore partnered with EAZ in support of the 2021 national economic summit.

She said this in Lusaka during the handover of a cheque worth K200,000 to EAZ in support of the summit.

“We are a Bank that believes in fostering partnerships that contribute to the growth of our nation and it is clear in the theme of this year’s summit of promoting economic resilience and sustainability post Covid-19

“When we were first approached by the EAZ in 2019, we understood the value that the summit would bring for our nation and our partnership was a clear alignment to our thought leadership drive,” Ms Chibesakunda said.

The second edition of the National Economic Summit which aims to provide ideas on the country’s fortunes post Covid-19 will be held in July this year in Livingstone by EAZ.

The first edition of the summit was held in 2019 in Livingstone.

Zanaco, Ms Chibesakunda said, believed in delivering sound advice to its clients and that it was this basis that the Bank set up an economic and research unit to provide information to navigate economic changes.

In receiving the cheque, EAZ president Lubinda Haabazoka acknowledged that Zanaco had always believed in the summit since its first edition in 2019.

Dr Haabazoka recalled that Zanaco during the first edition of the summit in 2019 had contributed K500,000 to support it.

“I must confess that when we announced about the summit in 2019, the first people to come on board were the banking industry. During the first summit, we received a cheque of K500,000 from Zanaco for the summit and this led to people believing in the idea,” he said.

Dr Haabazoka also took time to appreciate Zanaco’s drive to encourage entrepreneurship, particularly for the young people.
