KITWE District Electoral Officer Mbulo Seke has described the overwhelmingresponse by aspiring candidates from various political parties to attend the nomination briefing in preparation for the August general elections in the district as a clear indication of how ready the candidates are to participate in the elections.

Mr Seke said the good turnout showed that the candidates were ready to get clarifications on all the electoral requirements.

Mr Seke was speaking shortly after the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) briefing of aspiring candidates for parliamentary, mayoral and councillor elections at Buchi Hall in Kitwe yesterday.

"My initial assessment shows that the meeting is well attended by various political party aspiring candidates and their turn out is a clear indication of how geared and ready they are to participate in the elections. "The turnout among political party aspiring candidates shows that they are ready to participate in the elections and are willing to exchange views with their colleagues from other political parties and to also get clarification on the electoral process," he said.

Mr Seke also commended all other stakeholders who attended among them civil society organizations and the media. He further reminded them to continue being available when called upon to attend such meetings as key partners in the electoral process.
