REJECTED BINWELL MPUNDU ACCEPTS NKANA OUTCOME

- By ROGERS KALERO

I RESPECT the decision of the central committee on the adoption of another candidate in Nkana parliamentary constituency, former Kitwe District Commissioner Binwell Mpundu has said.

Mr Mpundu who lost his bid for the constituency, said he would not stand as an independent candidate after the Patriotic Front (PF) decided to re- adopt Mr Alexander Chiteme, who has held the seat since 2016.

But when asked about rumours doing rounds that he would contest the seat as an independent, Mr Mpundu said he had no such intention because he had respected the decision of the party.

"Who is saying that I am going as an independent? It's not true. I will respect the decision of the party. In 2016, the party left me out, I respected the decision, even now I will respect the decision of the party," Mr Mpundu said.

Meanwhile, Mr Cleopus Njovu, another unsuccessful aspiring candidate, congratulated Mr Chiteme on his re-adoption and pledged to support him during the campaigns.

He said the party in the constituency should break camps and focus on maximising votes for the adopted candidates and President Edgar Lungu.

Meanwhile, PF Chililabombwe District Chairman Frederick Rontos Mwape has advised loyal and committed members to promote unity and embrace the adopted candidates to ensure a convincing victory.

He said loyal party members must put behind the differences they had during the adoption process and concentrate on intensifying campaigns for the August 12 elections.

Mr Mwape, who was also an aspiring candidate for Chililabombwe constituency, said this in his congratulatory message to the incumbent MP, Mr Richard Musukwa, who has been re-adopted for the same seat and Trudy Ng’andu who has been adopted for the position mayor for Chililabombwe

"The war of adoption is over now. For every fight there must be a winner, congratulations to our MP and Member of the Central Committee, Richard Musukwa, on his re adoption. As a district, our congratulations also goes to our iron lady Trudy Ng’andu on her adoption as PF mayoral candidate for Chililabombwe,” said Mr Mwape
