Zambezi resident falls off moving tractor

A 30 year old man in Zambezi district is battling for his life after falling off a moving tractor, whose trailer ran over him.

North-western province Commission­er of police, Joe Njase, confirmed the sad developmen­t which occurred on Wednesday around 14:00 hours along the Dipalata road.

Mr Njase said Mr Chibunda was perched on unregister­ed Mess Ferguson tractor along with 10 other passengers when the victim fell off. the victim as

The tractor was being driven by 29-year-old Lanosa Michelo.

He explained that after falling off the tractor, Mr Chibunda was run over by the trailor on the upper part of his body.

"In the process, he sustained an injury on the ribs and browses on the body," he said.

He said the victim was rushed to Zambezi District Hospital where he is receiving treatment while the tractor has been impounded.

Meanwhile, a 49-year-old woman of Kachinga village in Kalumbila district is nursing burn wounds after the house she was sleeping in was set ablaze by unidentifi­ed people.

Mr Njase said the incident happened on Wednesday between 01 and 02 hours and identified the victim as Maggy Muyembe.

He said that police received a call that the victim's house was set on fire by unidentifi­ed people which resulted into burning of household goods valued at K1,400 and K400 cash.

Some people poured petrol through the sitting room and lit the house.

"The victim sustained severe burns and was rushed to Lumwana district hospital where she is receiving treatment," he said.
