WEED OUT ‘SABOTEUR’ CIVIL SERVANTS - NCP

- By NAMO PHIRI

GOVERNMENT must ensure that civil servants who are trying to disrupt operations by leaking confidential information are fished out, New Congress Party (NCP) president Peter Chanda has said.

Mr Chanda urged the State to cleanse the civil service of any possible infiltration by unscrupulous individuals with an evil agenda.

“We would want to see a situation where our civil servants do not play politics, people in the civil service should know that they are entrusted with the responsibility to run the government,” Mr Chanda said.

Mr Chanda called on the Secretary to Cabinet, Dr Simn Miti to work with intelligence officers to ensure that corrupt minded public workers were identified and chucked out.

“I call upon and request the Secretary to Cabinet to fish out such people and bring them to book,” Mr Chanda said.

He observed that information that was supposed to be confidential had continued making rounds in the public space.

Mr Chanda called upon law enforcement agencies to arrest and persecute anyone who was found leaking confidential information.

He said it was important to understand that the country had laws and certain information that was not supposed to be for public consumption should not be found in the public domain.

“My prayer is that the law enforcement agencies, that is the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Drug Enforcement Commission and the Zambia Police Service should not be idle on this matter,” Mr Chanda said

He said it was important that the culprits were traced, through ZICTA because information was sometimes shared on social media platforms.
