Two Mushindano chief rally behind Lungu

TWO traditional leaders in Mushindamo district have pledged to support President Edgar Lungu and all Patriotic Front (PF) candidates.

The two traditional leaders are chieftainess Chikola and Musaka of the Lamba speaking people.

Chieftainess Chikola said she WAS 100 percent behind President Lungu’s candidature and all the PF candidates.

The traditional leader said this was because chiefs were part of the governance system of the country and were able to participate in the development projects.

“My role is to support the Government of the day and that Government is that of the Patriotic Front under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu,” chieftainess Chikola said.

She urged all her subjects to vote for President Lungu and all PF candidates in the August 12 polls.

Chief Musaka also expressed the same sentiments and urged PF candidates to feel free to campaign in the chiefdom.

“Ours is to support the

Government of the day because it is biblical,” he said.

He however called on all political players not to engage in political violence saying he will not tolerate that in his chiefdom.

Meanwhile, Solwezi East PF candidate Richard Taima assured the two traditional leaders that he would continue engaging them because they were key stakeholders in development.

“That is the more reason why I thought it wise to pay a courtesy call on their royal highnesses before proceeding with our campaign trail,” Mr Taima said.
