STOP SPREADING FALSEHOODS, CHURCH WARNS

- By NAMO PHIRI

ZAMBIAis nowhere being in turmoil and all those spreading such falsehoods should desist, the Bishops Council of Zambia (BCZ) has said

The Bishops are appalled by claims by the Kola Bemba that Zambia is in a state of turmoil which needs President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema to reconcile.

BCZ Secretary General Able Kaela said contrary to claims by the Kola Bemba Movement, Zambia was peaceful.

Bishop Kaela said the statement that Zambia is in turmoil is only propaganda from the people who want to instill fear in the minds of the public.

He said this is being done in order to make people scared so that they can be taken advantage of because they will not care much about what is happening around them.

Bishop Kaela said the Kola Bemba movement only wants to bring confusion but that will not happen because Zambians have seen that they are living in peace and they love living like that.

“We are living in total peace,” said Bishop Kaela

He said it can be seen from the way the country is even after the death of the first President that everything is peaceful and everyone is reflecting as peace is the only commodity that there is in the country right now.

The Bishop said what the Kola Bemba Movement is doing is nothing but propaganda and that they should put in it to an end because propaganda never wins.

And on the issue of reconciliation, Bishop Kaela said reconciliation comes with commitment and if ‘some’ people are not committed to reconcile then reconciliation cannot take place.

He said some groups have set their mind that there shall not be any reconciliation until they enter state house but that cannot happen because it is God who is reigning right now and helping the nation to move the way it is moving right now.

Bishop Kaela said reconciliation will only come about when it is accepted and the church will continue praying and helping out here and there because they cannot sit idle.
