We’ll resume campaigns after KK burial - Lubinda

- By ANDREW MUKOMA

WHILE the nation is mourning and celebrating the life Dr Kenneth Kaunda, the Patriotic Front (PF) will not engage in any political activity, Given Lubinda has said.

Mr Lubinda said in Livingstone during a provincial gathering that the party would instead re-launch its campaigns after Dr Kaunda is put to rest next week – July 7.

Mr Lubinda said that the PF was a responsible party unlike some opposition political parties which had continued with campaigns while the nation was mourning its founding father.

He said that it was for that reason that President Edgar Lungu had opted to stay quiet because nature commanded him to do so.

Mr Lubinda said that the ruling party needed responsible leaders who would put the lives of citizens first.

“As a party we are happy during this period of national mourning, that we can reflect and celebrate the life of Dr Kenneth Kaunda and share amongst ourselves peace and unity.

“President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is himself a student of Kenneth David Kaunda and there are many achievements that Dr Kaunda achieved in our country,” he said

Mr Lubinda said that some of the projects started by Dr Kaunda and stalled are being rekindled by President Lungu.

“President Edgar Lungu has decided to remain quiet and not make any political statement during this period. Some of you have been reading on social media where people are asking ‘where is the president’; but he has decided to remain quiet from the political scene for that reason.

“We are going to re-launch our campaigns after July 7 once we put Dr Kaunda to rest,” Mr Lubinda said.
