MULOBEZI POLLS PUBLICITY IN TOP GEAR
MULOBEZI District has recorded a positive outcome from the ongoing voter sensitisation despite political party leaders misinforming the electorate on the ballots.
District Electoral Officer, Jemie Mukwato, said the district has recorded about 90 per cent positive results.
Mr Mukwato said this is despite the vastness of the area and challenges of transport for the facilitators. He told the Daily Nation in an interview however that there was some misinformation on the features and appearance of the ballot papers to be printed and used in the August 12 general elections.
Facilitators, he said, had some challenges because most people were in the field so they had to start following them to explain what was expected of them on August 12.
“We have about 15,000 voters in Mulobezi and if we can get about 90 per cent then we will have achieved something.
"You know Mulobezi is quite vast and places are far apart, so our facilitators have to walk long distances but so far so good," Mr Mukwato said.
And District Electoral Coordinator and Information Officer, Elvis Muleya, there were 18 voter facilitators in the field.
Mr Muleya said that Mulobezi was vast and that facilitators required to move long distances in order to reach out to the people in nine wards.
"But we are making sure everyone is captured and most of the places have been reached. It's in villages and most of the time you find that they hire ox-cats as a mode of transport to move from one point to another," he said.
