Chimwemwe MP upbeat

- By ROGERS KALERO

I WILL fulfil my campaign promises to the people of Chimwemwe constituency in Kitwe so that I prove that the Patriotic Front (PF) means well for all citizens, PF Chimwemwe Member of Parliament Allen Banda has said.

He said the PF loss to the UPND in the general election was an opportunity for the new ruling party to perform better than the PF which had already set the stage for economic recovery and national development.

Mr Banda was speaking at the weekend when he gave an update on the construction of the temporary footbridge connecting East of Chimwemwe and Kwacha township where the safety of the children and others members of the public have been at risk especially after two children were attacked by crocodiles.

He said engineers were last week on the ground to make recommendations on the possibilities of putting up a temporary footbridge.

The new MP said he had engaged the Roads Development Agency (RDA), the Kitwe City Council and other stakeholders on the need to put up a permanent bridge.

“The construction of a temporal bridge while awaiting a permanent bridge is one of the promises I made during my campaign promises and this is why I decided to give you an update on this project.

“I am still seeking for your support as I strive to fulfil my campaign promises.

I will not betray your trust, but I will remain determined to serve you so that you know that the PF meant well than some of these people,’’ Mr Banda said.

Mr Banda said the PF meant well than some of the people who promised ‘Heaven on Earth’ and that it was a matter of time before Zambians realised that former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu meant well.

“I can tell you that all those who are insulting President Lungu and the PF now, will one day remember him and possibly apologise for their tantrums. I can tell you that God allows certain things to happen for a purpose. It’s a matter of time ,’’ he said
