Tit-for-tat continues in NDC

- By ADRIAN MWANZA

NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) president Saboi Imboela has reported to police Administrative Secretary Edward Simfukwe for allegedly conniving with the rival Joseph Akafumba faction and getting all party documents.

Ms Imboela said in an interview that all the party’s documents went missing while in the custody of Mr Simfukwe, prompting her to report the matter to the police.

She accused Mr Akafumba of causing problems in the party even after he was expelled three times and was no longer member in the NDC.

Ms Imboela said that she reported the matter yesterday at Chilenje police station so that the law could take its course.

“I have decided to report the matter to the police because it is not normal for an individual to get the party’s documents and hide them, that was clearly theft and the police will determine the matter,” she said.

She said Mr Akafumba thought since the UPND was in power he could call the shots which was not the case at all and that they would meet him head on.

Ms Imboela said if her rival wanted to reconcile with her he should call her so that they could sit down unlike buying off junior members.

She said they once met with Mr Akafumba at Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC) where he hinted that they needed to sit down and iron out their differences but that she was not interested in the reconciliation.

Ms Imboela said that Mr Akafumba was not remorseful and that this had made her reluctant to accept the reconciliation.
