UPNDC ALLIANCE PLOT REUNION TO ‘EAT’

- By ROGERS KALERO

THE UPND-NDC alliance must work hard to uproot the Patriotic Front (PF) and Independent Members of Parliament through petitions so that the two political parties in the alliance can eat together freely,'' NDC Copperbelt provincial chairman George Sichula has said.

Mr Sichula said the UPND-NDC alliance will be in government for the next 30 years to come and so it was important that it was strengthened by getting rid of all the PF and Independent MPs through petitions.

Mr Sichula, who boasted that he was 'NDC Copperbelt Commander One' was speaking at Chillers Night Club in Kitwe on Wednesday evening when he welcomed those who had defected from Saboi Imboela's NDC faction to the Joseph Rikki Akafumba team.

He said he was aware that there were petitions in Kitwe and so he was sure that some seats would be nullified to create room for by-elections which the UPND-NDC would win because it was now government.

"With these petitions, I am sure that some seats will be nullified because we are in government. If these seats are nullified, then there will be by-elections and we will go in to grab those seats. We need to uproot all the PF and Independent MPs in Kitwe

"We should only remain with the UPND-NDC alliance MPs so that we eat together with UPND. UPND is eating there with forks and knives and we are also eating with forks and knives. Let us look after each other in the party and alliance. When job comes, let us share,'' Mr Sichula said.

Mr Sichula said he was disappointed that the UPND-NDC alliance in Kitwe failed to produce a Member of Parliament (MP) or Mayor when other districts had produced MPs, Mayors and gave President Hakainde Hichilema good votes.

He said, even President Hichilema himself was very disappointed with Kitwe and so it was important that, in the 2026 elections, the party structures in the district worked hard to get much better results.

"I am very disappointed that , as UPND-NDC alliance, we didn't produce an MP or Mayor in Kitwe. This showed that we were rejected. We need to work hard in the 2026 elections,'' he said.

Mr Sichula said President Hichilema has performed well in the few days he has been in government as evidenced by the stabilising of the dollar and COVID-19 has also gone.
