Dear Reader,

We trust that you and your family are keeping well and staying clear of Covid – 19 by observing all the guidelines shared by the Ministry of Health. We continue to tell the Investrust Bank Plc (IBP) story in its entirety. In our continued and deliberate effort to serve, we remain passionate and steadfast about helping to positively change the quality of life for our and non- customers. We are alive to the fact that one sure way to do this is through Financial Education. We are confident that the path to Financial Freedom (FF) begins with understanding Money and why it is important in our lives. This understanding will help people adopt behaviours that are essential in making FF a reality. Therefore, it is little wonder that we make it our business to remind you, dear Reader, about managing money well today, for a better tomorrow, and share knowledge on how you can achieve this. Our wish for you is that you master the art of managing money with the ultimate objective of making it work for you. Yes, Money does work for/’serve’ us, but only after working hard to make it do that. This can only be achieved when we do the right things with/about money.

What is the Money Fuss Really About?

So what is the big deal about money that we constantly talk about it? Why is it that conversations about money can be emotional and difficult to carry out? Why is it that money has been known to cause conflict between loved ones that in some cases it has led to marriages breaking down? There should be something ‘big’ about money. It is this that we are sharing in today’s story. This is with the objective to have a common understanding of money so that we better appreciate its importance in our lives.

Money is interpreted differently by people. Whereas others say it is good, others say it is bad. Others even go to the extent of describing it as evil and demonic! You can demonise money all you want, but one fact is that money is not only good, but it is also essential! In today’s story, we share more about this, and while we are at it, we also debunk some of the most common beliefs about and ‘ against’ money. Read on and be on your way to cementing and perfecting your ‘relationship’ with money.

Money Is More Than Good – It Is Essential

Money is without doubt more than good, it is essential. To put this in perspective, dear Reader, we challenge you to take a moment to rate money against other things that you consider essentials in life. Where do you place it? Others have said that money could be the next most essential commodity after air! Yes, there are so many important and essential things such as food, shelter, clothing, e.t.c but then again, how do we get these essentials without money? Having said this, it goes without saying that money is so essential in our lives and as such, we must treat it with a lot of respect. We need to manage it well today for a rainy tomorrow. We need to plan, budget and grow money responsibly. We must stop being ‘silly’ with money! Let us do the right things with it.

Don’t Get It Twisted – Don’t Worship Money

Yes, Money is essential in our lives, but it does not mean that it should be our only reason for existence or that we must ‘hero-worship’ it. It remains the fact that we need money to function normally and at the simplest minimum. This simplicity varies from person to person based on a number of factors. It is important that we consistently practice good behaviours that can help us live quality lives for our own benefit and our loved ones.

Money Is Not The Root Of All Evil – Man Is!

This story will be incomplete if we do not debunk the ‘saying’, ‘Money is the root of all evil’. Not it is not, man is! Like we have established in today’s story and others that we have shared before, money is more than good, it is essential. It’s funny how some people go to great lengths to demonise money by saying that it is the root of all evil. Please give money a break, you are the problem! Stop abusing money and accusing it of the ‘bad and ugly’. Let us do what is expected of us regarding its management. If and when we do, we will grow our wealth and live quality lives. Let us do good with money, there is no other alternative.

Can Money Buy Happiness?

Yes, and No, but more yes than no! What do you think? Money does buy happiness to a great extent. Please do not read/understand this out of context. It is very possible to have little money and yet live a happy and fulfilled life. On the flip side, when one has less than is required and arises due to one’s bad money management habits, it becomes a problem. How happy can you be if you found yourself in this predicament? On a serious note, money enables you to do or acquire things that make you happy when well-managed! We trust that you are happy when you are able to resolve challenges within your family, buy clothes and food for your loved ones and purchase things of your dreams like cars and houses.

Money The Life Changer

Money is so essential to us that it is one of the most important subjects of our entire lives. Some of the greatest enjoyments and disappointments are caused by the quality of decisions we make about money. Robert .G. Allen says that, “Whether you experience great peace of mind or constant anxiety will depend on getting your finances under control.” Some of the wealthiest people around the globe derive joy from sharing some of their money with those who do not have much and some spend their money working on solving some of the biggest challenges in the world. Aim to manage money well today so that tomorrow, it will help to bring you real joy so that you can live a quality life and provide the same for other people.

Be Real And Focus…Work At Growing Your Money

Even when you insist that money is evil or that it can’t buy you happiness, it would be extremely difficult for you to argue that life would not be better if you had a little more money. You may not need a fancy and big house or a flashy car, but you long for a life where you are able to pay your bills on time, eat good food and just ‘do’ you! We all pray and fantasise about such a life. So be on your way to a stress-free life, accelerate your wealth creation journey. Remember that you don’t have to be an Accountant or Financial Advisor to do this, all you need are a few ‘ingredients’. These are commitment, persistence and discipline. More importantly, you need to be intentional about making a positive difference in your life and that of your loved ones. Choose to be Money Smart today, there is no other way!
