DAMAGING LEAKS CALCULATED TO HARM PF, SAYS ROBERT MWANZA
THEdeliberate and calclated leaking of information pertaining to investigations against the PF and its associates is meant to create a negative narrative against the former ruling party, Citizens Democratic Party (CDP) president Robert Mwanza has said.
Mr Mwanza said it was clear that investigative wings were deliberately leaking information to portray themselves as hard working institutions while targeting the former ruling party.
He questioned how confidential letters between state institutions were finding themselves in public domain.
Mr Mwanza challenged the office of the Auditor General to explain how its internal memorandum to the Road development Agency over an impending audit of road projects was leaked.
He observed that confidential information pertaining to ongoing investigations against PF officials and their associates had in the last few weeks been deliberately leaked.
Mr Mwanza said before there was a change of government, such information was kept secret if at all investigations were taking place.
He warned that the deliberate leaking of information pertaining to investigations against the PF and its associates was meant to create a negative narrative against the former ruling party in the country.
“Investigative wings are just embarrassing the country because it raises a lot of questions that these investigations have only become rampant now. And the information and confidential documents are deliberately being leaked,” said Mr Mwanza.
And Mr Mwanza advised Government to tighten mechanisms in an effort to ensure that confidential information was not leaked by some overzealous public servants, panicking to save their jobs.
He emphasized the need to tighten mechanisms and ensure that confidential information does not land in the hands of the public.
