Boxing chief tips provincial leaders
THE Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) has congratulated provincial leaders who won the provincial elections held over the weekend.
ZBF General Secretary Westie Chewe who described the provincial polls as a success there is need for the new provincial leaders to work closely with ZBF to achieve the desired goals of developing boxing in the country.
In an interview, Chewe said the ZBF executive which is also new having been ushered into office in May this year expects the new provincial leaders to do better than the previous executive in their quest to grow the sport.
“Since we are there as ZBF, we will be able to guide. It is a two-way thing. The most important thing is just communication between us and the provincial bodies.
“We need to ensure that what is put on the table we share equitably so that we are able to achieve our intended goals of developing boxing in Zambia,” Chewe said.
Meanwhile, Christian Kalima was retained as Midlands Amateur Boxing Association chairperson during the Lusaka provincial polls held on Saturday at Olympic Youth Development Centre.
MABA’s new secretary general position went to Morgan Mwansa as Mutale Kafula was voted vice general secretary.
Zuze Joseph was voted treasurer while John Mwansa and Violet Chalwe were voted as first and second committee members respectively.
