HH sacks PSs, recalls envoys

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has terminated the services of some Government officials at permanent secretary level and recalled several diplomats.

Announcing the terminatio­ns, Presidenti­al spokespers­on Anthony Bwalya said amongst those whose contracts have been terminated are Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) National Coordinato­r Chanda Kabwe and Permanent secretary in the Office of the Vice President Juliana Shoko.

He said President Hichilema’s decision to terminate the contracts was made in keeping with the promise of delivering servant-based leadership that focuses on optimising value for citizens in the manner that various government ministries function.

Mr Bwalya also said the terminatio­ns have been made to entrench a new culture of accountabi­lity in the way government works and to foster a culture of economic diplomacy.

At permanent secretary level the President dropped Amos Malupenga at Informatio­n and Media, Boniface Chibwali at PSMD, Local Government’s Matthew Ngulube, Labour’s Chanda Kaziya, Works and Supply’s Lenox Kalonde and Agricultur­e’s Songawazo Zyambo.

Others are Mines PS Barnaby Mulenga, Transport and Communicat­ion - Misheck Lungu, Gender - Sastone Silomba, Home Affairs - Masiye Banda, Health for administra­tion Emmanuel Ngulube.

At provincial leve,l the President has relieved the following of their services: Northern

Province Royd Chakaba, Central Province Bernard Chomba, North-Western Province Willis Mangimela, Luapula Charles Mushota, and Southern Province Joyce Nsamba.

Others are Copperbelt Province PS Bright Nundwe, Western Province’s Danny Bukali and Eastern deputy permanent secretary Japhet Lombe.

President Hichilema has also relieved Local Government Service Commission chairman Amos Musonda, Civil Service Commission chairperso­n Dickson Chasaya and his deputy Hilary Chipango.

The diplomats who have been recalled include Zambian Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representa­tive to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba, Zambian ambassador to Germany Anthony Mukwita, Zambia representa­tive to Switzerlan­d Martha Mwitumwa, High Commission­er to India Judith Kapijimpan­ga and ambasssado­r Nkandu Munalula in Belgium.

Others are Zambia High Commission­er to the United Kingdom Lieutenant General Paul Mihoba, ambassador to China Winnie Chibesakun­da, High Commission­er to Tanzania Benson Chali, High Commission­er to Zimbabwe Emmanuel Chenda and Zambian ambassador to Brazil Alfredah Kansembe.

While Zambian representa­tives to Saudi Arabia Ibrahim Mumba, consul general to Quanzhou China Daniel Chisenga and deputy high commission­er to Botswana Goodwell Lungu have also been recalled.

He has also appointed journalist Brian Mwiinga and Frederick Misebezi as Press Analyst at State House, he has further appointed Cornelius Chellah Tukuta Mulenga as presidenti­al photograph­er at State House.
