FIC IN $2.5M CORRUPTION SCANDAL

-

The FIC allegedly paid a contractor US$2.5 million meant for the installation of an Intelligence Management System as an advance payment for the equipment but that the contract had not been fulfilled.

However the named contractor upon receiving the US$2.5 million payment which was 25 percent of the US$10 million was nowhere to be seen and was reported to have vanished into thin air without fulfilling its obligation.

According to a letter dated Tuesday 27th June 2017 captured by the

Daily Nation the contractor demanded to be given 25 percent of the project value of US$10 million.

FIC is said to have paid the contractor 2.5 million for the works but that he disappeared without conducting the said works.

The Centre has in the last few weeks ruffled a lot feathers by persecuting, fighting and freezing accounts of people perceived to be close to former republican president Edgar Lungu or those who served in the previous regime.

However in a twist of fate the Centre was this time on the receiving end and was dribbled without the works being fulfilled.

Reliable sources said efforts by the FIC to get Cyberbit vice president in Zambia Mr Hay Hazama proved futile.

FIC and other investigative wings have however been making headlines with most people doubting their professionalism immediately after the change of government.

Some of the notable individuals to add their voices to this debate include former Law Association of Zambia president Linda Kasonde who said that the FIC and the Drug Enforcement Commission were unprofessional in their conduct.
