NAKACINDA CALLS OUT UPND LIES ON VIOLENT CADRES

- By NOEL IYOMBWA

ASSRTIONS by the United Party for National Development that some Patriotic Front members are masquerading as UPND cadres to beat up people are unfounded and a pack of lies, a member of the PF central committee Raphael Nakacinda has said.

Mr Nakachinda said that claims by UPND National youth chairman Gilbert Liswaniso that some PF members could be behind the attacks are not true.

He said that it is a well- known fact that PF members are being attacked by the ruling party adding that Mr Liswaniso was only issuing such a statement because he is overwhelmed.

Mr Nakacinda was reacting to a recent video circulating on social media were a suspected PF member was being beaten by suspected UPND cadres.

During the Burning issue program on 5FM Radio, Mr Liswaniso alleged that the party was aware that some PF members were masquerading as UPND members to attack people to dent the image of the ruling party.

Mr Liswaniso however cautioned UPND youths not to involve themselves in lawlessness.

And Mr Liswaniso said that Ms Charmaine Musonda who was recently turned away from the UPND secretariat where she had wanted to defect, was not smart in trying to rejoin the party.

He explained that when she left the party in Chilanga, she said a lot of bad things about the UPND hence she was supposed to follow the right channel.

Mr Liswaniso noted that Ms Musonda was supposed to defect from the ward in Chilanga before meeting the Secretary General.

He added that it was women from Chilanga constituency who protested against Ms Musonda.

“Let those who suffered with the party on the ground and have qualifications be given the opportunities, the rest can wait. It is not easy to give opportunities to every Jim and Jack,” he said.

He said that the UPND is ready to welcome anyone to join or rejoin but for people like Mr Kambwili and Mr Raphael Nakacinda they need to be scrutinised thoroughly.
