CIVIL SERVANTS ASSURED OF GOOD PAY
GOVERNMENT will work towards improving civil servants’ livelihood by making sure that they are well remunerated, Katombora Member of Parliament Clement Andeleki has said.
Mr Andeleki said the UPND government will not neglect it's workers in rural or urban areas.
Speaking during a meeting with civil servants in Nyawa Chiefdoom of Kazungula district on Sunday, Mr Andeleki said this would attract more Zambians to work in rural areas and foster development.
He said the UPND government was well aware of the challenges the civil servants were facing and it shall ensure that it works on them.
Mr Andeleki highlighted among the many challenges included poor road network and infrastructure.
He said that it is disheartening to see how civil servants in rural areas are struggling to make use of very little resources to help the communities they work in.
The MP said that it is unfortunate that though Zambia has enough resources to change the living conditions of the people, most rural communities are still poverty- stricken.
Mr Andeleki assured civil servants in the chiefdom that they will be allowed to discharge their duties without any interference from anyone.
He has further advised civil servants to familiarise themselves with the UPND manifesto because it carries the vision of the party.
“You are expected to adequately acquaint yourselves with the UPND manifesto so that you fully appreciate the government’s policy direction,” Mr Andeleki said.
He acknowledged that civil servants are key in achieving the UPND vision which anchors on four thematic areas namely economic rebuilding and transformation, human and social development, environmental protection and sustainability and good governance.
He stressed that for the government to achieve the set goals, it is important that all government departments perform their duties with diligence.
“I wish to remind you to be disciplined and perform your duties with exceptional commitment," he said
Mr. Andeleki stressed the need for civil servants to be accountable in their offices and to ensure that they deliver expectations of the public from the new government.
