Reporting cyber bullies

- Dear Editor, SABOI IMBOELA.

GOOD day to you all.

Yesterday, I posted the names I was reporting to the police for cyberbullying and hate speech. I have removed two names of people who reached out to apologise but added more who still went on to insult and think cyberbullying is their right as long as I am a public figure they think they can do that.

These are Noritah Mwanza, Masauso Lubinda Banda and Lee Munambeza. After today, I shall not even be announcing the names but will continue to clean up the page of people who think that they can come to Facebook and abuse others.

I have stopped blocking all criminals but will be reporting them to the police where they surely belong.

And I have noticed some cadres/ people say that as long as I talk about HH and UPND they will continue with their hate speech and insults.

Well, let me make a few things very clear to some of you because the only time you got to do politics was on Facebook and you were wrongly socialised.

1. The Constitution of Zambia sufficiently protects the president from being insulted and if my posts about HH were insults I would have been arrested by now. So equating what I say to insults to justify your insults won’t protect you from the law you are breaking.

2. I started politics a long time ago from the same party that you think you are protecting. I was insulted by the PF by then, even by some people who are now UPND but where PF then. And when I left it was the UPND insulting me.

In short, Zambia’s politics have always been about insults and worse against women. So I have basically been insulted all my political life just for expressing my opinions on several issues.

But what I have noticed is that it is becoming too much and a danger not only to women politicians but to the country at large.

For organisations to even come up to try and solve this collectively indeed shows that it’s high time we brought a stop to it. And I don’t mean reducing it, we shall work to stop this.

Those who think that they do not have the intellectual capacity to debate, but only insult, should know that politics is not their place to relate. Because funny enough, I am insulted most when I post policy issues than anything else, clearly showing that it is the lack of intellectual capacity to debate critical issues that make people insult.

Better you just keep quiet if you don’t know what something is all about.

3. I have noticed that even on my page, the intellectuals are insulted over their great opinions while people who don’t know what they are talking about want to take over using insults.

So I shall make my page a safe place for all to debate, not where people feel scared to comment that uninformed cadres will insult them.

5. I love politics and I am a politician and Political Scientist by profession, my page postings have always been 99 percent politics from the time I opened it,

I will not allow people who can’t debate create a hostile environment for me and others because I will certainly continue on this very political path and criticise the government of the day as I have always done.

We criticised PF and we never saw what is happening right now with the UPND. So, we shall criticise UPND, and it’s not you to tell me whether it’s too soon or too much or whatever.

And if what I post doesn’t make sense to you, please feel free to unfollow or block me because committing cybercrimes in the name of protecting your party or president, who I very much respect and never insult by the way, will land you in serious problems.

Insulting people online is not politics but simply criminal and uncivilised and this is the last posting I will make on the people being reported.

I have said enough and everyone found wanting after this will just be reported without any announcement.
