DON’T GET AGITATED, CHIEF ADVISES UPND

- By NATION REPORTER

THE UPND led Government should just deliver on its campaign promises and not get agitated when reminded, Senior chief Kalilele of the Lamba people in Mushindano has advised.

Senior Chief Kalilele said the ruling UPND should not get agitated whenever they were reminded about their campaign promises prior to the August 12 General elections because that is what they promised themselves.

Speaking when PF vice president Given Lubinda paid a courtesy call at his palace in Mushindano, the traditional leader said President Hakainde Hichilema made a lot of promises some of which he might forget but the people would never forget.

“The UPND made a lot of promises during campaigns which the people are patiently waiting because they have not forgotten but patiently waiting for their fulfillment. They just have to deliver and not get angry when reminded,” he warned. He advised the UPND members to refrain from beating and harassing members of the PF as that would be a recipe for civil strife. He also said as a traditional leader, he would closely work with the new Government in the same manner he worked with PF regime for the sake of development.

Senior Chief Kalilele thanked the PF regime for having looked at the plight of chiefs by building them houses, among other things.

Meanwhile, Mr Lubinda said that the PF government had respect for traditional leaders hence it created the ministry of chiefs and traditional affairs.

He expressed disappointment that the new government had abolished the ministry which was a link between Government and the people. Mr Lubinda assured traditional leaders in the country that once it bounced back in power in 2026, PF would bring back the ministry of chiefs and traditional affairs.
