Accountants challenged
THE Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZiCA) has challenged accountants in the country to take advantage of the opportunities that have come with the Covid-19 pandemic to fully utilise their potential as professionals.
ZiCA president, Cecilia Zimba says that the pandemic came with opportunities which accountant professionals must take advantage of and contribute to the country’s growth.
Ms Zimba said the accounting profession plays a strategic role in reigniting the national and global economies.
She was speaking during the opening of the ZICA Pre-Annual General Meeting held at Falls
Park Shopping Mall in Livingstone yesterday.
“Accountants are now firmly established as strong change agents and advocates in both the public and private sectors. Accountants are at the centre of the drive for sustainability which is now at the core of recovery in the era of COVID-19,” the ZiCA president said
Ms Zimba said that the pandemic has provided the profession with unprecedented opportunities to emerge stronger and become more relevant to its clients, the wider public.
She added that the profession is uniquely qualified with the skills, knowledge, and experience to help clients and economy recover from the devastating efforts of Covid-19 pandemic.
The Pre-AGM is being held under the theme “reignite and restart in the new normal-refuse to lose”.
Earlier, ZiCA Chief Executive Officer Bonna Kashinga reminded the delegates that programs like the Pre-AGM enables members to keep updated with the latest business developments and maintain professional knowledge and skill at a level required to ensure that clients or employers receive competent professional service.
