Exploit battery and electric vehicle initiatives - ZACCI
ZAMBIAN industries and the business community should look for manufacturing opportunities that will go into various finished products for the Battery and Electric Vehicle (BEV) initiatives.
The global transition towards green energy and rapid decarbonisation holds significant opportunities for Africa and to this Zambia has a lot to gain, according to the Zambia Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) president Chabuka Kawesha.
This, Dr Kawesha said, had spurred the demand for electric vehicles and investment in battery-powered storage systems, which was expanding the deployment of solar and wind energy in particular.
He stressed that the value addition to many other key components that would be required from this multi-million-dollar venture to which our presence and involvement was highly noted and required.
Kinshasa hosted the ‘ DRC - Africa Business Forum’ on fostering the development of a BEV and renewable energy industrial value chain and market in Africa from the 24th to 25th November 2021.
"I call upon Zambian industries and the business community to look at opportunities of manufacturing and producing various components that will go into various finished products for the BEV initiatives as well as renewable power generation to feed into the expected mass production lines of batteries for electric vehicles," Dr Kawesha said in an interview.
Dr Kawesha emphasised that the private sector players must expand its visibility in the project both main and subsidiary, announce of aligned products to the project and other potential contributions.
