UPND WILL DELIVER IN 5 YEARS - KANGOMBE
…We’ve not backtracked on the campaign promises but still fixing the economic damages left by PF, says Romeo Kangombe
THE new dawn government has not backtracked on its campaign promises, it is still fixing the economic damages left by the PF regime and all the promises will be fulfilled within the five years mandate, the ruling UPND has said.
UPND deputy mobilisation and strategy chairperson Romeo Kangombe said the PF regime had caused what he termed as ‘a deep economic damages to the country” which President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration was fixing before delivering on the campaign promises.
He appealed to Zambians to be patient to allow Government to stabilise the economy before attending to the campaign promises.
“Sometimes if you want to jump high, you need to take a step back. UPND has not back-tracked on its promises but the damage that was caused was deep. We need to stabilise the economy before we can finally settle.
“The economy was in the intensive care unit and we need to bring it back to life and some injections might pain a little bit but in the end we shall all rejoice. We have a five years mandate and trust me, we shall deliver,” Mr Kangombe said.
Mr Kangombe, who is also UPND Sesheke Member of Parliament claimed that President Hichilema had achieved so much in 100 days most of which the PF failed to achieve in 10 years.
He said in 10 years PF failed to end caderism and hooliganism in public markets and bus stations but which the UPND administration managed within hours of forming government.
“Those PF surrogates who are yapping are jealous because UPND in 100 days has achieved what they failed to achieve in 10 years. In 10 years PF failed to give the local authorities power to run markets and bus stations but UPND managed within hours of taking office,” he said.
Today, he added, prices of goods and services have stabilized as opposed to previous days were prices were going up every day.
Mr Kangombe also said
President Hichilema had restored the image of Zambia globally and investor confidence had been boosted.
He said the UPND has presented the best budget ever and PF surrogates were not happy.
“By end of next year Zambia will never be the same again, we are headed for greatness,” Mr Kangombe said.
