UPND concerned with PF’s accusations

- By ANDREW MUKOMA

THE ruling UPND in Southern Province has noted with dismay the continued accusations by the opposition PF on the party's fight against corruption.

Provincial spokesperson Neto Halwabala has said that the former ruling party was crying foul over the way the fight against corruption is being handled.

"As UPND in the Southern Province, we have noted that the Patriotic Front members in an effort to continue being heard in the political space, are pushing their political mediocrity beyond the limit," he said.

Mr Halwabala said that PF members should know that the ruling party has a lot of information concerning their (PF) political criminalities.

He said therefore, that when the ruling party does not expose PF criminalities, it does not mean that the UPND was weak.

He claimed that the PF regime abused authority and did not care about Zambia's welfare.

"It’s only that they don't have social shame because of their thieving nature and now they are mocking us that up now that we are not making frequent arrests as if we are serious with corruption crusade

As a ruling party with respect for separation of powers, we don't want to interfere with the law enforcers in their investigations," he said.

"But very soon those making political noise will be caged. We know they think that Anti- corruption crusade will end up being frustrated like during the MMD regime," he said.

He claimed that the PF former government officials damaged the economy and wanted to create a posture as being political genius who governed this country prudently.

"We respect the laws, but let them not force us to use uncivilized method of sorting them out," he added.
