NKANA SEEKS WINNING TONIC

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AFTER suffering a shocking 1-0 defeat to Prison Leopards on Saturday, Kitwe giants Nkana will seek redemption when they take on struggling Konkola Blades in today’s rescheduled MTN/ FAZ Super League fixture at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.

Nkana are winless in the last three games where they have picked three points from two draws against Green Buffaloes and Green Eagles before the loss to Prison leopards.

And after the setbacks in the last three games, Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi is confident that the Kitwe outfit will bounce back to achieve their target of finishing the first round in the top six.

“We have to regroup and look forward to the next game we have to come out of these games it is not good for a big team like Nkana to record two draws and one defeat.

“We have to regroup and see how we are going to handle the game against Konkola Blades,” Chambeshi said after the defeat at President Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Konkola Blades will aim to start the new chapter on a positive note after they fired coach Levy “Chabby” Chabala together with his deputy Lewingtone Mujembe.

Chabala and Mujembe’s dismissal came in the wake of Konkola’s 1-0 away loss to Kafue Celtic on Saturday.

“The club have terminated the contracts of the two coaches with immediate effect,” Club Secretary Musonda

Mupeta confirmed in a statement.

“In the absence of the two coaches Levy Chabala and Lewingtone Mujembe, Mulenga Chewe will take up a caretaker position and shall be assisted by Steven Kabwe.”

Mupeta expressed confidence that the changes will inspire the team to rediscover itself as it competes in the Super League.

“We trust that these measures will be the beginning of a turn around to the season and bring hope again to the stakeholders and the fans.”

Konkola Blades are winless in the last eight games and occupy 16th position with 11 points from 12 matches played.

Bouncing back from three consecutive defeat to beat Nkana in today’s fixture may move Blades out of the relegation zone.
