PF ‘hired guns’ warned

- By ROGERS KALERO

“HIRED guns” must not be allowed to create unnecessary divisions in the Patriotic Front (PF) because the former ruling party has the capacity to bounce back and provide quality and much better leadership compared to the one being provided by the ruling UPND, the PF has said.

PF Copperbelt Provincial Media Director Munalula Moola said the former ruling party was capable of providing quality leadership when it bounces back because it had learnt from its mistakes and would now be a refined political party under a sober and mature leadership.

In an interview in Kitwe yesterday, Mr Moola said the party was aware that those resisting the party's self-cleansing and re-branding process had offered themselves to be 'hired guns' to some PF presidential candidates with no ability to provide quality leadership.

He said the party's self-cleansing and re-branding process will include dissolution of some party structures and replacements, but such developments should not make party members and officials to insult those in top leadership.

"A loyal and disciplined party member or official will remain disciplined even if his or her position is taken away from him or her, but he will remain respectful to the party leadership. The culture of insulting senior party officials is indiscipline of the worst order.

"We know those who are insulting the party leadership are hired guns by some party presidential candidates and must not be allowed to create unnecessary divisions. Those who love the PF must talk about unity and remaining strong in the face of political persecution,'' Mr Moola said.

And Mr Moola said it is mere flattery by some senior UPND officials to continue singing praises of President Hakainde Hichilema in the 100 days he has been in office when the situation on the ground is that people are more.

Mr Moola said it was sad that, in trying to keep their party and government positions, most individuals had continued to sing praises for President Hichilema despite knowing that Zambia was heading for doom under the 'New Dawn ' government.

Last week UPND Deputy Secretary General Getrude Imenda rated the performance of President Hichilema as excellent after he clocked 100 days in office on Wednesday, last week.

But Mr Moola said Zambians were regretting voting for UPND, while others were wishing the 2026 could come soon so that they could vote and return the PF which had a sound, humble, mature and understanding leadership.

And Mr Moola has said harassing people and name-calling will not help the 'New Dawn Government to fulfil campaign promises of reducing prices of mealie-meal, alleviate poverty and hunger in various communities.

Mr Moola said the New Dawn government campaigned on malice, propaganda and lies and this was why it was failing to fulfil any of their campaign promises which included delivering affordable agricultural inputs on time.

"Zambians are not interested in witch-hunting and name-calling, but are interested to see that the UPND government which they voted for, fulfil its campaign promises to improve their lives.
