Stuttering Zanaco worry Kaindu

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

ZANACO FC coach Kelvin Kaindu has expressed concern with his team’s inconsistency in the MTN/FAZ Super League where they seat on 15th position with 17 points.

In an interview after the 1-0 defeat to Indeni FC in Ndola on Sunday, Kaindu said he was worried with the way the side are dropping points.

Kaindu is also concerned that his charges are failing to replicate their superb performance in the CAF Confederations Cup where they have progressed to the group stages.

“Inconsistence with the way we are picking results, we look better when we play in the CAF Confederations Cup and we have qualified to the group stage but we are lacking the consistency to pick up points in the league consistently, we are from a win and we drop points I think if we had won it would have helped us to move a bit on the table,” Kaindu said.

Despite Zanaco’s inconsistency, Kaindu is still hopeful that they will qualify for the ABSA Cup which features the best six teams from the Super League and the best two sides from the National Division One League.

“It disappointing that we lost to Indeni especially that we gifted them the goal because of the mistake we made in defence but we still have more games to be played and if you look at the way the table is looking, once you win one or two games you move up on the table,” Kaindu said.

Meanwhile, Indeni coach Dabid Chilufya said their victory over his former club will lift his players’ spirits as they fight to avoid being relegated from the Super League.

Chilufya said Indeni was getting to where he wants it to be after struggling with two defeats and a draw before the two consecutive wins over Nkwazi and Zanaco.

“People had in mind that we can’t win but we have proved them wrong we have broken the jinx and I believe it has lifted the spirit of the players for the next round.
