STOP POLITICAL VIOLENCE - PF

-

Pastor Chanda said the UPND when in opposition indicated that there would be armageddon if they lost and some of their followers actually ran amok but nothing has been done up to now.

“The president and police need to be magnanimous and ensure that they prosecute even individuals that were committing such atrocities from the UPND camp,” he said.

Ms Hakachima said that if not properly handled, political violence would be detrimental to the development of the country.

She was narrating her ordeal after she was attacked and her vehicle stoned by UPND cadres at Chelstone Police last week where she had gone to offer solidarity to a PF official, Mr Raphael Nakacinda after he was summoned by the Police. Ms Hakachima, the former Chikankanta District Commissioner, said what happened at Chelstone Police Station was uncalled for and must not be allowed to continue.

"As a champion of human rights, I have always paid attention to issues of democracy and human rights. So, I made a decision alone to follow Mr Nakacinda at Chelstone Police Station to just monitor and see what was happening or what would happen on that day," she said.

Ms Hakachima said after she was physically attacked by one of the unruly cadres, she was saved by a gentleman who she hardly knew was a police officer at Chelstone Police Station.

Meanwhile PF media director, Edwin Lifwekelo wondered why no single UPND cadre has been arrested for having caused havoc during the then opposition leader, Hakainde Hichilema’s campaign train.
