What a dreamer!

I GOT a call - last month - from a stranger. From the tone of the voice, you could tell that the caller was bubbling with confidence.

The caller, who turned out to be a young man, was a dreamer of big things! He was looking for ward to raise US$40 million for his business project.

“So I am creating a board of directors for spearheading the af fairs of the project and we consid ered you looking at your long and heavy work experience,” he said.

Who else is coming on the board? I asked.

“Chibamba Kanyama, Likando Kalaluka and Yusuf Dodia,” he said, adding that with my involvement and others men tioned, his project would be a success. He said he had carefully picked these names of the pro posed board of directors.

“The project I have been work ing on will excite your mind,” he pitched in a follow-up conversa tion on WhatsApp. He sent doc uments too!

He believed in the big dream! I contacted Chibamba, there after, to talk about this young man’s dream.

“I admire Zambians who dream like mad,” Chibamba said.

We both agreed to meet the youngman and see how we can be of help.

The dream was to produce a high budget feature film to be produced in Zambia with a pos sibility of using Hollywood ac tor Dijon Housou - from Blood Diamond- to act in a movie depicting Zambia’s founding President Kenneth Kaunda. It was to be distributed on Box Office and Netflix.
