…Bankers, Airmen clash headline Weekends’ Super League action

REDArrows’ quest to win their second MTN/FAZ Super League title will face another tough test as the Air men host midlands rivals, Sensationa­l Zanaco FC, in a Week-30 clash of the Titans at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Red Arrows dominate the Super League with 59 points, seven points ahead of second placed Zesco United who are on 52 points.

After outclassin­g Nkwazi FC 3-2 in a tightly contested fixture on Wednesday, the Airmen will fight for another win to maintain their seven points lead at the summit of the Super League table.

Arrows will also seek to complete a double over their midlands rivals who they beat 2-1 in the first round meeting played in December last year at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.

Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe has predicted a tough game against the Bankers who are seeking recovery from their disappoint­ing campaign in the CAF Confederat­ions Cup.

Mbewe is chasing a dou ble this season as the Airmen dominate the league and are tipped as favorites to win the ABSA Cup where they will meet NAPSA Stars in the fi nal. “At the beginning of the season we made goals, we planned to play the ABSA Cup and now we are in the finals and we planned to win the league which is not yet over and we are leading by seven points but the most im portant thing is that we have to stay focused and continue working hard until the last games of the ABSA Cup and the League,” Mbewe said.

Mbewe will look to his in- form striker, Ricky Banda, who has scored 13 goals for the Airmen who have scored 42 in 29 games goals this season.

Meanwhile Zanaco will fight for a win as they contin ue to chase for a top four fin ish after struggling with eight wins, 14 draws and five loses.

In other Super League fix tures, defending champions Zesco United will engage Buildcon FC in another Ndo la derby after beating Forest Rangers on Wednesday.

At Konkola Stadium in Chililabom­bwe, Konkola Blades will host Kafue Celtic,

Kabwe Warriors will seek re demption from Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat to Lusaka Dyna mos when they host strug gling Nkwazi FC at Godfrey Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe.

Rejuvenate­d Kansanshi Dynamos will host Forest Rangers who are seeking re demption from Wednesdays’ 1-0 defeat to Zesco United while Chambishi will take on rejuvenate­d Lusaka Dy namos in a relegation der by at Chambishi Stadium in Chambishi.

In an early kick off at Nkoloma Stadium, Green Buffaloes will face Green Ea gles in a Service derby while Indeni and Power Dynamos will renew their rivalry in a lunch time kick off at Nkana Stadium, the same venue to host Nkana’s clash with Pris on Leopards.
