Public service workers urged to implement the 8NDP
PUBLIC service workers have been implored to faithfully implement the recently approved Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP) to accelerate social and economic development.
Chirundu District Commissioner Patrick Kasambila says the 8NDP is President Hakainde Hichilema’s “new dawn” government’s blueprint for national development in the next five years.
He explained that 8NDP which is a successor plan to the 7NDP will be the framework through which the national development aspirations towards achieving the national “vision 2030.”
Mr Kasambila said this when he officiated at the first quarter of the 2022 Chirundu District Development Coordinating Committee meeting held at Chirundu One Border Post Immigration Boardroom at the weekend.
He explained that the approved 8NDP is anchored on the principle of decentralisation by devolution so as to ensure the attainment of its objectives are in line with the manifesto of the United Party for National Development Alliance.
Mr. Kasambila pointed out that 2022 is the implementation year for the new dawn administration’s programmes and polices hence he expects all government departments to be fully committed.
“You have already seen the implementation of free education, increment of social cash transfer and other social protection programmes.
“Furthermore, the increment of the Constituency Development Fund and recruitment of 11, 275 health workers and 30, 000 teachers which is underway, among many other positive developments, will call for commitment to duty,” he added.
Chirundu Town Council Secretary Laura Munkanta urged heads of Government departments and key stakeholders to document challenges they face so that remedial measures can be taken.
