USE CDF PRUDENTLY
THE Constituency Development Fund (CDF) was recently disbursed to all constituencies. The CDF is meant to develop the constituencies through the implementation of various projects.
The Members of Parliament, civic leaders, the Ward Development Committees and the people in the constituencies must work together in a bid to spearhead development regarding what the people want to be done.
It is true to mention here that the constituencies have various pressing needs but the bottom-line is that these constituencies must be developed.
In this regard, the people can appreciate the roles their leaders play in fostering development at the constituency level.
The new dawn administration increased the CDF from K1.6 million to K25.7 million. However, this is a good gesture in that the funds will assist in the implementation of the various developmental projects.
The disbursement of CDF is one thing and the prudent utilisation of the funds is another. That said, I implore the leaders managing the CDF to do so in an accountable manner devoid of any misappropriation.
However, the leaders regardless of the political affiliation who will misappropriate the allocated CDF must be brought to book so that they can face the full wrath of the law.
In a nutshell, development is above political affiliation. This implies that all constituencies must have an equitable share of development as regards the disbursed CDF.
The issue of the constituency whether under the ruling political party or the opposition political party should not matter.
The guidelines on how the CDF should be used must be adhered to. In an event that some stakeholders are not content with some issues surrounding the use of CDF, the stakeholders must raise such issues so that these can be addressed.
This is the way to go. ELEMIYA PHIRI, Lusaka.
