...Airmen urged to remain focused to complete a double

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

THE Red Arrows Football Club Executive has urged the team to stay focused after winning the MTN/FAZ Super League with a game to spare.

Red Arrows FC vice president Sydney Chikampa said the team’s focus should shift to Saturday’s ABSA Cup final against Napsa Stars.

Chikampa said anything can happen in the ABSA Cup final which is the country’s only cup competition.

“After winning the league they have to be level headed. The next game is going to be different, it is a cup game not a league game anything can happen so we tell them to be level headed,” Chikampa said.

With Arrows being the favourites heading into the final against Napsa Stars, Chikampa is confident they have what it takes to complete a double this season.

Chikampa who hailed Arrows for winning the league championship with a game to spare said the executive wants a double this season.

“We are taking a game as it comes. We are done with the league and we are remaining with one game and we have to plan for it. Like we said during the launch of the ABSA Cup, we want a double this season and we have already bagged one title and come Saturday we are bagging another one,” Chikampa said.

Meanwhile, Chikampa saluted the ZAF Command for giving the team the needed support to claim their second super League title after 18 years.

“It feels great to win the league, we had planned for this and we want to thank the Zambia Airforce command for giving us the support throughout the season and for the last three years and we hope to continue from where we will end. Eighteen years is a long time but we will continue from where we ended.

With Arrows having qualified for the CAF Champions League as Zambian champions, Chikampa said the club executive would meet the team to plan how they are going to compete fairly after picking lessons from competing in the CAF Confederations Cup last season.
